The First LRC Latino Hip-Hop Awards

As the newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for Latin Rap Conference, I would like to take this opportunity to make a few great announcements.
I am very proud to announce some new additions to the board of directors. We have the pleasure of welcoming world-renowned DJ and emcee, Tony Touch, aka Tony Toca, and Public Enemy DJ and producer, Johnny “Juice” Rosado. These two extraordinary individuals are bringing a new and exciting vibe to LRC. We are honored to have them aboard.
We are extremely honored to announce that the legendary music industry mogul Jerry Heller will speak at this year’s event.
And, we will also be blessed with the participation of Hip-Hop icon, Chuck D of Public Enemy, as a lead panelist on a very special seminar called Genrecide. It’s hard to believe this is all happening under one roof and on the same week. But it doesn’t stop there…
I would also like to make a very special announcement now about this year’s upcoming Latin Rap Conference. We will be hosting, as part of our event-filled program, the first ever Latino Hip-Hop Awards Show. This show has been over 2 years in the planning and will definitely be the highlight of this 6th Annual LRC. It is long-overdue recognition for many people really putting it down in Hip-Hop music. We don’t need to wait for the Grammy’s or even the Latin Grammy’s to recognize our entire genre. One category will never encompass our accomplishments in Hip-Hop music. So we had to create our own complete awards show…just like we had to create our own conference!
Latino Hip-Hop Awards Show categories will include:
INDY ARTIST OF THE YEAR, INDY ALBUM OF THE YEAR, DJ OF THE YEAR, BEST INTERNET RADIO SHOW, BEST LATINO HIP-HOP WEBSITE, BEST EMCEE MALE, BEST GROUP, BEST EMCEE FEMALE, BEST PRODUCER, BEST ALBUM, HOTTEST SINGLE, HOTTEST COLLABORATION, BEST VIDEO, HOTTEST INDY LABEL,... more to be announced.
YOU MUST REGISTER TO VOTE.
This is not American Idol or The Teen Choice Awards. Please don’t get it twisted. We are taking these awards very seriously and we want the highest quality nominees only. To that end, you must be a registered attendee to nominate someone for a category and you must also be a registered attendee to vote when we begin the voting process. Nominations are being taken now and voting will begin October 15, 2008. Voting will be done via email ballots sent out only to registered attendees.
The voting decisions will be handled as follows:
1/3 of the decision will be based on votes from registered attendees
1/3 of the decision will be based on votes from board of directors
1/3 of the decision will be based on votes from LRC Awards Panel
